Richard (Dick) of Port Alberni, BC passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Liverpool, NS, the son of the late Ruth and Richard G Abbott. He was the youngest of 2 siblings.
Richard married his childhood sweetheart, Patricia Anne Lundrigan. They adventured West to Vancouver Island in the late 50's. Dad started working at MacMillan Bloedel Alpulp Div. in the wood room and later worked a tug boat operator until his retirement. Dad loved the outdoors and enjoyed numerous fishing and hunting adventures with his sons, grandsons, and great grandsons.
He will be missed by his sister Barbara, cousin Bobby Weagle, sons; Stephen (Chris), Brian (Muriel), Bob (Lulu) and Mike, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and he will reunited with his wife Patricia.
The family would like to thank the staff at Royal Jubilee and WCGH hospitals, Palliative care team and home support for their compassionate care of Dad.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
