Richard passed away peacefully at Echo Village on Friday, September 16th at the age of 71. Richard is predeceased by his parents Richard and Margaret Storbjork. He is survived by his sisters, Arlene Williams (Bill) and Norma Storbjork (Ed); his nephews Lance and Lyle Williams, and many cousins and their families. Richard was born in Port Alberni on August 21, 1945. He was raised in Franklin River and made many lifelong friends there. The majority of his life was lived in Port Alberni with some time spent in Courtenay, Victoria and Qualicum Beach. Richard faced some challenges in his life but he was a very friendly, outgoing person who loved people and enjoyed a good laugh. Prior to moving to Echo Village, he lived in Pioneer Towers for several years and was very happy there. He liked having the companionship of fellow neighbours; visiting in the lobby, going to the donut shop, and watching the Bulldogs hockey games with his friend Vicki. Our appreciation goes to them for treating him with kindness and giving him support when he needed it. We would like to thank all the people that helped Richard live such a rich, fulfilling life; his many friends, the homecare workers, the paramedics and ambulance attendants, the doctors, nurses, and staff at W.C.G.H., the staff at Echo Village that cared for him and made him comfortable at the end of his life, and Dr. Owen Brown. Following Richard’s wishes, no formal service will be held. Chapel of Memories Funeral Directors entrusted with the arrangements.
