Dec 8, 1925 - Mar 28, 2018
Robert Bohdan Mayba passed away peacefully in Rainbow Gardens on March 28, 2018 at age 92.

Born in Ukraine on December 8, 1925 Bob immigrated to Canada at age 2. His father was a Ukrainian Orthodox priest and the family lived in various communities on the prairies. He attended high school in Benito, Manitoba and completed his degree in Agriculture at the University of Manitoba after serving in the Navy during WWII. He and his wife Betty were married in 1951 and shortly afterwards moved to North Dakota where Bob started a lifelong career in agriculture. They had three children and returned to Canada in 1965. Bob and Betty retired in Calgary and five years ago they moved to Port Alberni in order to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Bob is predeceased by his parents Rev. Ivan and Sophia Mayba, sisters Gloria and Nadia and brothers Paul and Bill.

He is survived by his loving wife Betty of 67 years, brother Ihor (Helen), son John (Diane) and daughters Katherine (Phil) and Judith (Peter), grandchildren Luke, Stephen, Dan, Mark and Samuel and great grandchildren Felix, Lea-Rose, Maverick and Elliot.

Bob loved to meet people and had an amazing ability to get to know them. His children always maintained that he could "learn anyone's life history in five minutes".

We are very grateful for the kind, supportive care provided by the staff at Rainbow Gardens during Bob's brief stay with them. Thanks also to West Coast General Hospital and Dr. H. Nell for the care they have provided for Dad since he came to Port Alberni.

A very special thank you to Yates Memorial Service and Rev. Brenda Nestegaard Paul for the meaningful family funeral service.
