December 1, 1940 - September 6, 2024

In loving memory ~

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Norman Dolan; known by most as Mooner and by some as Bob. Mooner was born on December 1, 1940, and passed away on September 6, 2024, at the Ty Watson House surrounded by family.

Mooner was a very loving and devoted husband, dad, grampa, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was pre-deceased by his father Norman Merton Dolan, his mother Catherine Mary Dolan, and brother Kenneth Merton Dolan.

Survived by his wife Kathleen of 58 years, daughters Erin (Scott), Kelli (Scott), and Jennifer (Wayne), grandchildren Connor, Kyle and Liam, Nathan and Aysia, and Jenna and Dawson, his brother Pat (Linda) and sister Kathleen (Bruce) and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Mooner lived his life in Port Alberni; a community and city he loved. He spent his career as an owner/operator of Dolan's Concrete Ltd and other business ventures with his brothers as well as a top-notch professional truck driver. Seriously, he backed a fully loaded mixer truck and poured concrete into some of the craziest places; never had an accident or a serious incident or mishap.

Mooner loved working in the yard, tending to his vegetable garden and especially loved to go fishing. He spent many days down the canal, on fishing charters out of Ukee, Kyuquot and Cabo San Lucas (to name a few) with his beloved fishing crew (you know who you are). Mooner was also an avid hunter with trips to Gunn Lake in recent years and extensive trips by horseback in his younger years. As well, there were many small and larger trips with the family that involved camping, winter skiing, time at Sproat Lake, Tofino and Hawaii.

Mooner was a patient, kind and loving soul; he never complained about anything...ever. If there is anyone who could show you how to appreciate and love life, it was Mooner. Always smiling and always one to take things slow, explore the side roads, and enjoy a Lucky (or two). Mooner loved his family and friends with his seven grandchildren holding an extra special place in his heart.

Heartfelt gratitude goes to Home Support and Fir Park Village staff, HandyDART staff, Dr. Marsay and staff, Dr. Williams and staff at WCGH especially Nurse Carly, and the staff at Ty Watson House.

Please join us to celebrate Mooner's life at an open house on October 19, 2024, between 2pm - 5pm at the Cherry Creek Golf Course in Port Alberni.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ty Watson House.
