Ron Hansen

Hansen, Ron passed away, with his family by his side, in Port Alberni on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the age of 86.

Predeceased by wife Phyllis. They were married for 47 years; his parents and brother Carl.

Ron is survived by children Larry (Marie), Shelly (Gord) and Lisa (Randy); grandchildren Ryan (Emily), Byran, Jonathan (Megan), Brandi (Mark), and David (Kaitlyn); great grandchildren Addison, Reese, Beau and Sebastion; siblings Lette (Jack), Gerry, David and Judy (Tom) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in the Alberni Valley, and as a young child, Ron's family moved to various places before coming back to settle in Port Alberni. Ron went to the 'old Army Camp' for school, and - as many in those days - left early to go to work in Alberni Pacific Division. Ron worked there for more than 45 years, some believe it was a record for long service. When not working he enjoyed camping and listening to music - especially country and western, playing cards and spending time with family. Although he and Phyllis traveled across Canada as well as many times into the interior of BC and on to Alberta, Hornby held a special place in his heart.

After his wife Phyllis passed Ron found great comfort and companionship with the Hospice walking group. Ron did not like to miss his Saturday morning coffee group, no matter how he was feeling. Ron also enjoyed floor curling twice a week and he was a very good curler say his teammates.

A Celebration of Ron's Life will be held 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Sunday, October 21, 2018 in the Arrowsmith Tea Room, Chapel of Memories, 4005 - 6th Ave.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's memory may be made to the Ty Watson/Alberni Valley Hospice Society, 3088 - 3rd Ave, Port Alberni, BC.,V9Y 2A5.
