Sharon Isabella Fedirchuk, age 80, passed away with her family by her side at Ty Watson House, on Saturday, August 1, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sharon was born in Quebec, on May 12, 1940. Her family moved to Vancouver when she was young, and eventually came to Port Alberni where her dad worked at the Somass Mill. She married Verne Fedirchuk on May 19, 1962.
Sharon worked as a secretary at Alberni Plywoods before having her children, Bryan and Brent. In 1988, Sharon was the first coordinator of the Alberni Lifeline Program and volunteered with them for many years. She later worked as a travel agent at Turner Brothers Travel / Thomas Cook.
Sharon enjoyed camping and traveling with her husband. They went on many trips and cruises and found Hawaii to be their favourite place to vacation every winter.
She will be dearly missed by her husband Verne, her son Bryan (Susanne) and grandsons Matt and Cole, her son Brent (Julie) and grandson Jace.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Ina Freeborn, and her sister Shirley Ann Curran.
There will be no service at this time due to Covid-19 restrictions. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Ty Watson House for the great care they gave Sharon in her last months. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Alberni Valley Hospice Society.
