April 26, 1949 – December 23, 2016
Shirley passed quietly after a courageous fight with cancer. Her amazing spirit lasted to the end. She was predeceased by her parents Don & Lorraine Morrison and her beloved daughter Kristy. Survived by her brother, Danny (Sue) and Seeeesters Mary (Doug) & Terry (John), step daughters, Wendy (Jason), Leslie (Scott) and numerous nieces, nephews, grand children, her Cuban family and her companion and best friend Bill Phillips. Shirley worked for the Motor Vehicle Branch in Victoria before she moved to Port Alberni where she spent many years in the Government Agent Office until she retired. She enjoyed her work and the staff she worked with. Shirley loved life and her heart was with her family who she was devoted to and was happiest surrounded by them. Shirley liked her time down the inlet, the good times and cold beer in the Arli and her many travels with Bill. Cuba was her favorite but Kenya, Mexico and Las Vegas ranked high on her list. Shirley netted her last big fish on July 30th in Holford Bay. She will be missed. A celebration of Shirl’s life will be held at the Alberni Golf Club, Cherry Creek Road, on December 30th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Shirley memory can be made to Ty Watson House.
