August 6 1930 - December 5 2020
Terry left us peacefully on Saturday, December 5th, in the Palliative Care Unit of NRGH. Survived by Shirley, his loving wife of 39 years. Terry was predeceased by his parents Steve and Kay Yurechuk (Winnipeg), his brother Andy (Victoria - CHEK TV), and his son Ross (Kathy), Winnipeg.
Of Ukrainian heritage, Terry was born in Edmonton and raised in Winnipeg to a musical family. He enjoyed singing in choirs and quartets, and performing in dramas and musical theatre productions.
After moving to Port Alberni, Terry sang briefly with the Timbre Choir before moving on to the Alberni Valley Musical Theatre which he enjoyed for many years, his favourite role being Emile in South Pacific. Another singing highlight was joining our U.S. choir, Imperial Valley Master Chorale in a performance of the Chichester Psalms under the direction of John Rutter.
After retiring from ICBC he enjoyed 10 years as a Marriage Commissioner - all happy work, and he loved it. At the same time he hitched up the 5th Wheel and we wintered in the south and visited every state, drove across Canada twice, and checked out every tourist attraction we could get to.
Terry made friends quickly and loved meeting new people everywhere we went. It was a great life and we enjoyed it all.
Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at NRGH for your care and kindness to Terry.
Due to Covid-19, a Celebration of Life with family and friends will be held at a later date.
