Tom was a resident of Port Alberni for bout 63 years. He spent his spent his last year and a half in Comox is a beautiful retirement home until his passing on December 24, 2021. Tom was born on May 13, 1923, in Alberta.
At the young age of 17, he volunteered to go fight in the Second World War. Tom was awarded a very special medal from the Queen Mother and King George VI at the Windsor Castle. Not too many people received such an honour.
Tom served in the Calgary Regiment and drove a tank, which is where he met the love of his life, Peggy, and the two were married in 1945. They went on to have three children, Kathleen, Robert, and Carol. In the eyes of his children, Tom was always a War Hero.
He worked very hard for his family, never taking a single day off. He supplied his family with a beautiful home and a comfortable life.
When he wasn't working, Tom enjoyed playing golf and curling as was also a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Tom was predeceased by his beloved wife of 71 years, Peggy. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Kathleen, Robert, and Carol; his grandchildren, Correne, Ricky, Karla, Buffy, Sara, and Ira; and his great grandchildren, Tommy, Addison, Caleb, Evelyn, and Carson.
