June 11, 1945 - April 28, 2025

In loving memory ~

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ursula Knoll (nee Sedlak) on April 28, 2025, at West Coast General Hospital in Port Alberni, BC.

Ursula was the beloved mother of her sons Tony (Karlee) and George (Andrea) of Port Alberni, BC. Ursula was the proud Oma of Natalie, Avery, Thalia, Ella, Livia, Halle and Emporio. Ursula will also be remembered by her sister, Renate and her family from Wiesbaden, Germany as well as numerous friends and family.

Ursula was born on June 11, 1945, in Kalmswiese, Czechoslovakia. At the end of World War II when she was 1 year old, she and her parents were forced to leave Czechoslovakia as refugees. They settled in Bad Hersfeld, Germany, where she spent most of her childhood. After spending a couple of years in her youth in Port Alberni, she immigrated to Canada in 1968 with her husband George and raised their two sons. After living in various communities on Vancouver Island, Ursula, George, and their boys settled in Port Alberni in 1984. Ursula loved the outdoors and spent her time discovering this beautiful province she called home. If Ursula wasn't with her family or in her garden, she could be found on a variety of hiking trails on Vancouver Island. Ursula was an avid hiker and member of both the Port Alberni Outdoor Club and Alpine Club of BC. In more recent years, Ursula found friendship with a wonderful group of women that called themselves the Lush Ladies. They were a great support for her throughout her cancer journey. Those who knew Ursula, will remember her for her independence, spirit, and strong opinions.

Special thank you to Dr. Brown and the staff at West Coast General Hospital for taking such loving care of Ursula.

Ursula chose to be cremated and her ashes will be brought to one of her favourite hiking trails.

A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
