July 4, 1930 - December 24, 2018
Wilda Francis Nelson (nee Bool), aged 88 passed away peacefully at Nanaimo Hospital on December 24th, 2018. Born on July 4, 1930 in Courtenay to the late Charles and Connie Bool, she is predeceased by husband, James Richard (Dick) Nelson, brother Clifford and sister Phyllis, and survived by her children, son Gerald and daughters Janice and Valerie. Wilda spent her teen school years in Port Alberni. There she met Dick Nelson and they built their dream home at Sproat Lake.
Wilda had a life-long passion for landscape gardening and a deep love for nature and wildlife. She was happiest spending time with her family outdoors on camping, boating, or skiing trips. She was an excellent cook and gifted sewer making numerous ballet costumes for her daughters. With her parrot Willie on her shoulder, she loved watching hockey games on television. A spirited and warm-hearted woman, Wilda will be missed by all who knew her.
