April 20, 1944 - February 26, 2021
Bill Dol, born April 20, 1944 passed away on February 26, 2021 of pancreatic cancer. Bill was lovingly cared for at home by his wife and amazing daughter Nadine.
Bill leaves behind his wife Donna Black Dol, son Philip (Julie), grandson Andrew, daughter Kimberly and granddaughter Devan, daughter Nadine (Steve), grandsons Brock, Cody (Lexi), granddaughters Miranda, Heather and Charlene Deederly, brothers (and their wives), sisters (and their husbands) and many nieces and nephews. Bill's dog and constant companion, Sophie, is missing him terribly.
Bill was born into a large Dutch family of 18 children. He moved to Canada at the age of six, eventually settling in the Alberni Valley. Bill was a hard worker, even from a very young age.
He went to carpenter's school at age 20, where he proved to be a top student. Bill was proud of the many local buildings that he had built. Unfortunately, his career was cut short when he suffered a workplace injury at the age of 25. It took many years of rehabilitation to learn to speak again. He was truly one in a million. Bill went on to work at Parks and Recreation for 18 years, retiring at 45.
Thank you to all of our friends, family and neighbours. Your generosity towards Bill and I is very much appreciated. Thank you for all the cards, baking goods, gift certificates, canning, flowers and the homemade chicken broth that kept Bill going.
Thank you to Denis and Clarine for their morning visits.
Thank you to the M.A.i.D. team for all their assistance during the most difficult time.
Instead of flowers, please if you would like to donate to Ty Watson House, Sunshine floor curling club, or the SPCA. A special thank you to those that have donated to Ty Watson House.
Toot-a-loo! From Bill
