To the Editor,
The kiteboarders are to be banned from Centennial Pier?
Well, we do have a working harbour and I completely agree that the pier is too close to the working boats.
Canal beach is the perfect location for this activity. I can appreciate that the port authority has to exercise restraint in this time of change, but could the watersport groups get together to earn the money to rebuild the pier at Canal Beach instead of the port paying alone to develop the beach?
I would love to see service groups join in to make a playground, shelter and benches for the community and tourists to enjoy. This gem could be a huge boon to the tourism industry and the community.
