LETTER: Echo Pool closures getting worse for Port Alberni users

To the Editor,

I am concerned and very frustrated with what is happening at the Echo Aquatic Centre. At the moment we are discussing getting a new swimming pool but the closures are getting worse and worse.

It started by cutting the Sundays, then fewer hours in the afternoon and now the mornings are being cut. We were told this was temporary more than a year ago but now the situation has become worse.

I question the management of the aquatic centre—do they really have the Port Alberni community in their interests?

Personally you have cut back so much on the times I can not use the pool now—the first time in 20 years!

Something needs to be done or someone needs to stand up and take over the management of this pool. We are trying to attract more young families to this town and this is pushing people away from Port Alberni.
