Re: Condition of Highway 4 is 'reprehensible', Letters, July 3 and Highway 4 still dangerous, Letters, July 17
I find it unfortunate that both of these good people only see Highway 4 as a way to get from A to B. I have driven this road for 60 years and countless times in all seasons. I never get tired of it.
Up the Hump, the view of Mt. Arrowsmith, down to the Cameron River, through majestic Cathedral Grove and along the length of Cameron Lake. We are fortunate to live here and have such beauty at our doorstep.
Highway 4 in its unique form is an integral part of all that, allowing us to see it. It's a gateway to the Alberni Valley and the Valley's beauty. We should not destroy it but protect it.
Take the time to really see and enjoy how special it is.
