While not wishing to continue in a political vein, I feel it important to point out to Mr. Blackham that the “political diatribe” as he described it, was printed in a section of the newspaper called “Share your opinion”. That is what it was, merely the opinion of Mr. Gosse and, I believe, never meant to be disrespectful or an incitement to argument.
my humble opinion, I do not find it disturbing that the Alberni Valley News printed Mr. Gosse’s letter, quite the contrary, after all it is a platform provided for the expression of personal opinions.
When we start to censor opinions, a frequent occurrence in mainstream media, we are in danger of eradicating the freedom of speech of all Canadian citizens and that simply must not be allowed to happen.
