To the Editor,
So President Trump is going ahead with his tariffs, and it is obvious that Canada has to respond.
The Canadian government seems determined not to start an all-out trade war, but at the same time we cannot allow Trump to just bully and steamroll us for the next four years.
If the response is going to be targeting GOP states, then we must make sure we add one target to the list that will surely get the attention of the president and his cronies: Tesla. Put the pressure on that company and I guarantee you will have their undivided attention.
Please keep pressure on our government to make this move as part of a broader strategy. We already know that appeasement will only encourage Trump to go further.
Bullies must be stood up to — we are taught that from childhood. Surely we do not have to explain it to senior levels of government.
