To the Editor,
As we careen through federal election season, many of us seek to get as much information as we can about different candidates and look forward to hearing their perspectives. Recently, however, it has become increasingly common for candidates to skip debates.
At what point did this become acceptable?
All-candidate debates are a critical part of the campaign process, allowing members of the community a precious opportunity to hear candidate views on real issues. Is it too much to ask that all candidates take a few hours out of their campaign to engage with the community they seek to represent?
