To the Editor,

Re: Gardening gloves aren't just a fashion statement, AV News Letters, June 19, 2024

In last week's  AV News Inbox, there was a rebuttal of sorts stating “The cat poop is probably the healthiest thing in his (previous writer) plants diet."

Cat poop is not recommended or healthy for use in a vegetable garden! It has the potential for parasitic pathogens, roundworm, hookworms that can potentially be transferred to humans. Also, cat feces could contain bacteria such as E. coli or salmonella.

The writer noted that “Gardening gloves not just a fashion statement.” Always wear gloves when gardening, remove all feces as soon as possible and wash tools, boots and gloves. Most importantly, wash all harvested vegetables.
