ALBERNI GOLF: Haggard, Palmer take top honours in Sunday men's golf

James Haggard and Greg Palmer top gross division in two-man best gross and best net event at Alberni Golf Course on Sunday, June 8.

In Sunday Men’s Club action on June 7 the participation was good at Alberni Golf Club, with 60 players taking advantage of the warm weather for the two-man best gross and best net event.

In the gross division first place went to James Haggard and Greg Palmer, carding a 68. Second place was recorded by Colton Buffie and Justin Sketsch coming in with 71, while Preben Rasmussen and Joe Henri shot 72.

On the net side of the day, first place went to Andre Savard and Tony Rata, carding 59. Next was Tylo Smith and Masami Hirayama with 62; at 63 were Don Grill and Bill Bjornson, Sam Parhar and Brian Hill and Greg Eyford and Darren Bellas. Rounding up the net wide with 63 was the twosome of Chad Wutke and Jason Dwelinski.

All ties were settled by retrogression.

The closest to the pin winners were Joe Henri on No. 2, Kole Poulson on No. 4, Terry Rai on No. 13 and Greg Palmer on No. 17.  The charity closest to the pin on No.7 went to Terry Rai, who collected $90.

Next week there will not be a Men’s Club event due to the West Coast Amateur being played. There is still plenty of room for those wishing to participate in the tournament.
