The Alberni Valley Bulldogs recognized the Valley’s first responders during a home game against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Saturday, Feb. 11.

The game was sponsored by Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District (ACRD) and gave those in attendance the chance to win a one-time only jersey dedicated to the first responders.

The jerseys were auctioned right off the Bulldogs’ backs after the game ended.

Before the game began, Ted Blight, of the Sproat Lake Volunteer Fire Department was honoured for his 50 years of service as a firefighter by the Bulldogs and the ACRD.

Spencer, a search and rescue dog, dropped the game’s first puck.

The Bulldogs lost to Salmon Arm 3-0.
