Atoms win gold in home tourney

The Alberni Valley Minor Hockey Atom Development Bulldogs beat Victoria Ice Hawks 9–4 in the final to win a gold medal on Monday afternoon.

The Alberni Valley Minor Hockey Atom Development Bulldogs beat Victoria Ice Hawks 9–4 in the final to win a gold medal at the AV Multiplex, Monday afternoon.

The atom Bulldogs were undefeated for the weekend, winning against Oceanside, Langley, Tri-Port, Vancouver and the Ice Hawks.

In the Peewee Tier 2–3 tournament, Oceanside defeated Semiahmoo to win gold, while North Island Eagles earned bronze, edging the peewee Bulldogs 5–4 in the bronze medal game. The Bulldogs scored their fourth goal with 59 seconds left.

Both levels enjoyed a turkey dinner on Sunday as part of the tournaments.
