Holy Moley! Dave Gray did something that has never been done before on the Alberni Golf Course.

Gray recorded the first-ever hole in one on the 272-yard, par-4 sixth hole on Friday, June 17.

That’s one for the record books. Congratulations, Dave.

Although the numbers were slightly down, by all reports the West Coast Amateur was a success again this year, with some outstanding golf being played.

Due to the Ladies West Coast Amateur being held on Sunday the regular Men’s Club event will be cancelled.

Look for the Aines and Tyler par points format in two weeks.

Next with 39 points were Jim Rhodes, Keith Randall, Rick Paul and Gene Kimoto. Then came Frank Penzel, Dennis Hillman, Don Ferster and Bruce Browne, all with 38 points.

With 37 points was the group of Bob Turner, Livio Tedesco, Bill Lekich and Frank Hastings. The final prize went to Bill Barrett with 36 points.

The closest to the pin went to Frank Hastings on No. 2, Sharon Hillman on No. 4, Bill Barrett on No. 13 and Steve Acland on No. 17.

Draws for sleeves of balls were won by Sandy Duguid, Jacques Giovetti, Ken Sander and Ray Nicklin. Thirty dollars in club money  was won by Steve Acland, Jack Sparks, Stan Hebert, Ann Brooks, and Jules Gaudreault.

The two meat draws were won by Mark Anderson and Barry Bowman. Please  collect your winnings in the pro shop.
