Longhorns win Okee Dokee slo-pitch tournament in Port Alberni

Canada Day tournament drew 80 slo-pitch teams to Port Alberni

A team from Victoria won Port Alberni's annual Okee Dokee Slo-Pitch Tournament in dramatic fashion.

A total of 80 teams attended the combined slo-pitch tournament and Funtastic Music Festival over Canada Day long weekend. The A division winners were "The Longhorns" from Victoria, who beat last years defending champs, The Sinners, by just one run.

The Larlaland Costume Contest went to Team FUN, and The Odd Sox took home the title of The Most Sportsmanlike Team.

Funtastic Alberni executive director Paul Roberts says the 34th annual event was a success, despite the rainy weather.

"The weather didn’t put a damper on things, as all 12 fields were in play on Saturday," said Roberts. "And the music festival headliner Aaron Pritchett put on a great show!"
