Savard crowned Alberni Golf Club champion for 2024

Alberni Golf Club hosts club championship over two days, July 27-28

This past Sunday the Alberni Golf Club held its annual club championship. It was a two-day event with more than 40 men looking for the title, and just three points separating first through third place.

Congratulations to Mike Savard who came out on top with a two-day total of 150, followed by last year's winner Scott Staley carding 151 for a close second place. Third place went to Blake Frechette with a two-day score of 153.

In the senior division it was Wayne Cheveldave with a 148, Ted Stewart 149 and Joe Henri 154. The net winner was Ed Francoeur, followed by Peter Mugleston with a two-day total of 161.

COMING UP: Next Sunday, Aug. 4 the Men’s Club is back in action. The sponsor for the day will be Smitty’s Restaurant. It will be the best net and best gross competition, every man for himself. The cost for the day will be $15, with the usual closest to the pins, the money pot and the charity closest to the pin will all be in play. Please book your own tee time in your own group starting at 7 a.m. and going to 10 a.m.

In order to clarify who is actually playing in the events we are now putting out a sign-up sheet on the desk outside of the pro shop office. All names of your group must be entered, or a scorecard will not be printed. If it is a two-man team event, indicate who you are playing with.
