Fifty-two men took part in the two-man gross and net Stableford competition, held on Sunday, April 27 at the Alberni Golf Course. Many thanks to Alberni Toyota for sponsoring the day.
In the gross division the team of Scott Staley and Chris Owen came first, compiling 21 points. Next was the twosome of Colton Buffie and Justin Sketsch with 18, followed by Jess Black and Kole Poulsen with 16 points.
On the net side first place goes to the team of Greg Eyford and Darren Bellas with 31 points, followed by Ron Scholte and Trevor Primett 29 points, James Haggard and Darcy Haggard 24, Bruce MacDonald and Vito Caldarulo 24, Bryce Dabb and Mike Buffie also with 24, finally the father son team of Terry and Keith Ellwood with 23 points. All ties were settled by retrogression.
Closest to the pins were won by Scott Staley on No. 2 and No.13, Darren VanDyk on No. 4. No one on No. 17. The Charity Closest to the pin on No.7 was won by Preben Rasmussen, who collected $78. Bill Barrett won $48 for the only birdie on No. 2 and Chris Owen won $73 for the only birdie on No. 4.
In the skins competition, Bill Barrett on No. 2, Darren Bellas on No.3, Chris Owen on No.’s 4 and 15, Scott Staley on No.’s 9 and 14 and Bryce Dabb on No. 14.
COMING UP: Sunday, May 11 the Sunday Men will host another gross and net competition, sponsored by the King Edward Liquor Store. This will be tee times, make up your own group, please book your own tee time, starting at 7:30 a.m. with the cutoff at 10 a,m.
