The Alberni Valley Curling Club was host to the Aurora Roofing Mixed Bonspiel on March 10 - 12 with a total of 26 teams participating.
More than half of the curlers travelled to the Alberni Valley to participate, enjoy the Valley and compete in the party atmosphere which is a hallmark of the Bonspiels.
As always, the competition was intense. The “A Event” sponsored by Aurora Roofing, pitted two local teams in the final with the Glen Cheetham Rink vs. the Al Herbertson Rink, with the Cheetham Rink prevailing by a nine to two score. The “B Event” sponsored by McLean and Higgins featured Duffy Simpson from Courtenay vs. Ken Lidstone from Victoria, with the Lidstone team winning. The “C Event” sponsored by McDermott’s Insurance saw local teams Steve Eng and Brandon Sawyer in the final with the Sawyer Rink winning. The “D Event” was also won by another local team with the Adam Streichsbier Rink prevailing over the Philip Rink from Tsawwassen.
