The Port Alberni Bombers picked up three wins in a row during a four-game homestand in November.
Despite starting the homestand with a 2-1 overtime loss against the Kerry Park Islanders on Friday, Nov. 15, the Bombers managed to bounce back with a 3-2 overtime win against the Victoria Cougars on the following night.
On Saturday, Nov. 23, the Bombers had a rough start to their game against the visiting Lake Cowichan Kraken, as the Kraken scored two goals within the first six minutes of the game to take a 2-0 lead.
But the rest of the game was all Bombers, with two goals from Zach Spafford, a hat trick from Sean Richards and individual goals by Sam Davidson and Jaxon Hinchey leading to a 7-2 final. Bombers goaltender Tom Forrest made 23 saves for the win.
The Bombers finished their homestand with a 5-2 win against the visiting Nanaimo Buccaneers on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The win moved the Bombers to first place in the VIJHL's North Division.
The Port Alberni team will be back on home ice on Wednesday, Dec. 4 as the Campbell River Storm come to town. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. and tickets are available online at www.portalbernibombers.ca or at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
ICE CHIPS...A former Port Alberni Bomber Brady McIsaac has been named a BCHL All Star. The 2004-born forward, who now plays with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs, started his junior hockey career with the Bombers during their inaugural 2021-22 season. He had 23 goals and 21 assists in 26 regular season games with the Bombers before he moved up to the Bulldogs.
