The Port Alberni Bombers have rescheduled a game against the Campbell River Storm due to a conflict with the BCHL All-Star Weekend.

Port Alberni was scheduled to host the Campbell River Storm on Saturday, Jan. 18, but both teams have depleted rosters. Coaches Brad Knight and Troy Newans, as well as 12 Bombers and nine Storm players, are attending the BCHL All-Star Weekend in Salmon Arm.

This is the first year that the BCHL has hosted a Top Prospects Game for the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) as part of the weekend’s schedule.

“The VIJHL is very pleased to be able to participate in the BCHL’s All-Star Weekend this season,” said VIJHL President Mark MacDonald. “Events like these attract scouts from all over North America to see some of the best junior hockey players in Canada and our association with the BCHL is just another opportunity to demonstrate the high-end talents of the best players in our league.”

The Jan. 18 game has instead been re-scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 12 at the multiplex.

The Bombers will be back at the Alberni Valley Multiplex on Saturday, Jan. 25 when they host Peninsula Panthers in a 7 p.m. start.
