The official season for the Alberni District Secondary School junior boys’ basketball team came to an end Saturday when they lost two out of three games and failed to qualify for the North Island tournament to be held at Ballenas this weekend.

Alberni Valley athletes Riley Kuxhaus, Nick Yewchyn and Jordan Lavertu are going to the provincials for lacrosse for the third time—only this time it’s field lacrosse.

Two Alberni District Secondary School wrestlers travelled to the high-calibre Miri Piri Invitational in Abbotsford last weekend. The tournament featured some of the top wrestlers from the Lower Mainland and throughout B.C.

After winning two of three last weekend at the Cowichan Junior Invitational the ADSS junior boys’ basketball team experienced better competition and some unique matchups, resulting in a 1-2 record at the Mark Isfeld Invitational in Comox. They beat Carihi Tyees 50–35.

The Van Isle Ford Midget Bulldogs won their first playoff game Saturday, beating Powell River Kings 5-1 at Weyerhaeuser Arena.

The 28th Annual Alberni Invitational Wrestling Tournament is scheduled for the Alberni Valley Multiplex Feb. 3-5, 2011.

It’s Superbowl time and that means that it’s time for a Superbowl scramble and party.

The Midget A Bulldogs begin the North Island playoffs against Powell River this weekend.
