Christmas is over, and the yard displays have (mostly) been put away for next year. The judges have spoken, and the Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce on Friday announced the winners of the Light Up Alberni Christmas light contest.
The winners list is as follows:
Residential
1st – Ted Maczulat
2nd – Chrissy Alerie
3rd – Skyler Mangelsen
Business
1st – Naesgaard’s Farm and Market
2nd – Trends Design Team
3rd – Sharon Lane
First prize winners received $1000, second prize $500 and third prize $250.
Maczulat’s interactive musical display on Kitsuksis is a Christmas staple, and people flock to his place every year to see what light delights he has set to music.
Helgie Naesgaard thanked the chamber of commerce for organizing the light up event this year, and conveyed his thanks to the public too. “Thank you Port Alberni for choosing Naesgaard’s Market as the most popular Light Up Alberni business participant,” he added. “We enjoyed an excellent Christmas season with many local and out-of-town visitors touring our Christmas displays. We were impressed by the extent of activities in our community this year, during the holiday season.”
The Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce published a list and map of homes, and offered shuttle tours of the Light Up Alberni places on the first three Sundays in December as well.
