SPECIAL TO THE AV NEWS

The Kinsmen hosted their heritage dinner on Sunday, Feb. 25 at the Echo Centre and it was once again a huge success.

Mitch Gardner was the emcee and announced that there was a fundraiser for their chosen charity, Cystic Fibrosis. Kinsman Dave Best said grace before the meal. Entertainment was provided by the Old Time Fiddlers and the Folk Song Circle. Many of the audience decided to get up and dance, while others had their toes tapping to old-time favourites.

The Kinsmen had assistance from their families and friends to serve everyone. The chief cook was Barbara Marsh. The meal was a tasty roast beef dinner (with beef from Double R Meats, dinner rolls from Mountain View Bakery and dessert and vegetables from Circle Dairy).

Councillor John Douglas, on behalf of the city, thanked the Kinsmen for their community involvement with not only this dinner but other donations that they have made. In total, the dinner raised $1,427 for Cystic Fibrosis.

The Kinsmen have hosted this dinner for more years than anyone can remember. If you would like to join, or learn more about Kinsmen or Kinettes, contact Mitch at 250-723-4970 or Barb at 250-724-1709
