This week (Feb. 5-11) marks “Winter GoByBike Week.” Although it’s difficult to stage outdoor celebratory events at this time of year, it’s still possible to get out and ride if the weather is not too inclement, says John Mayba, one of the event organizers in the Alberni Valley.

“We’d like to invite local cyclists to a free indoor pancake breakfast on Thursday, Feb. 8 from 8-10 a.m. at the Jumping Slug Community Cyclery,” he said. Jumping Slug is located at 4282 10th Avenue at Roger Street.

GoByBike is also offering riders a chance to enter for a $100 gift card to a restaurant of their choice. Register your ride at www.gobybikebc.ca and send an email to djmayba@telus.net saying why you like to ride or send a picture of you and your bike.
