A Port Alberni poet will be the featured reader at the next Electric Mermaid live reading event at Char’s Landing.

On Wednesday, May 31, Electric Mermaid Live Reads returns to Port Alberni, featuring Port Alberni’s own Vicki Drybrough.

Drybrough’s poetry and short stories have been published in a variety of anthologies and literary journals. Stuart McLean read her short story Macaroni and Cheese on CBC Radio in October 2011. She was a finalist in the 2016 Cedric Literary Awards and has read at The Fat Oyster, Wordstorm and 15 Minutes of Infamy. She co-authored Both Sides Now with Derek Hanebury and Libbie Morin and is currently working on her first novel, as well as a collection of short stories.

With host and emcee Derek Hanebury’s literary guidance, Drybrough, plus a host of authors through the open mic, this evening promises to keep poetry and prose fans engaged. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and open mic runs from 6-8 p.m. Admission is $10. See www.charslanding.com/events for details.
