A Victoria, B.C. writer will be the next featured reader at Electric Mermaids: Live Reads in Port Alberni.

On Wednesday, Sept. 27, Victoria’s Daniela Lorenzi will read at Electric Mermaid at Char’s Landing. After a nomadic start in life, residing and attending schools in various parts of Canada alternating with Italy, Lorenzi was finally able to settle on Vancouver Island.

Now retired from a career in language-teaching, she is weathering the ageing process with as much grace and humour as possible, and yes—her writing helps.

Lorenzi’s work has been published in a variety of print and online journals, as well as several anthologies. This Old House chronicles her rich life experience, her loves and her challenges.

With host and emcee Derek Hanebury’s literary guidance, the featured reader and a host of authors through the open mic, this evening promises to keep poetry and prose fans engaged.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the open mic runs from 6-8 p.m. Admission is $10. See www.charslanding.com/events to pre-register for the readers’ list and to select the optional Zoom link.
