Alberni Valley arts groups offered training

ArtsVest will be holding a information session in the Valley on March 6 for arts, culture and heritage organizations

Valley arts organizations will have the chance to gain coaching on obtaining business sponsorship and funding through the Business for the Arts’ artsVest program.

ArtsVest is Business for the Arts’ national flagship program that works directly with small to mid-sized arts organizations, equipping them with in-depth training, tools and mentorship relationships.

ArtsVest participants can apply for matching grants for every one dollar raised in sponsorship, Business for the Arts will match it with another dollar doubling their sponsorship opportunity.

The program provides local arts organizations with free live sponsorship training workshops, individualized mentorship sessions, peer-to-peer training workshops, webinars and marketing and branding tutorials.

“They have about $110, 000 in matching grants that they are looking to give to organizations within our community,” Kingston said. “It’s a really exciting opportunity… and they came to us, they looked at our community and selected us.”

An artsVest information session is being held in Port Alberni on Monday, March 6 at Echo Park Fieldhouse from 1 5 p.m. Registration is available on eventbrite.ca.
