Feds arrest Alberni ship jumpers

The five men who jumped ship in Port Alberni two weeks ago have been captured, the Canada Border Service agency said in a news release.

There’s still no sign of the five Pakistani crewmen who jumped ship last week. Their ship - the Chitral - remains in dock and is undergoing repairs.

The five men who jumped ship in Port Alberni in July have been captured, the Canada Border Service agency said in a news release.

CBSA officers arrested the men at a residence in Montréal, Quebec on Aug. 16.

The men were crew members aboard the Pakistan-registered Chitral, which arrived in Port Alberni on July 26.

The men were reported missing on Wednesday, July 27 and CBSA subsequently issued a arrest warrant for them.
