Local secondary school teachers received free instruction on how to perform CPR and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on Monday so they can pass this knowledge on to their students.
The ACT Foundation is a national charitable organization that sets up free CPR and AED training in high schools across Canada. Each year, they empower more than 250 students with the skills and knowledge to save a life.
This week, the new initiative came to the communities of Port Alberni and Ucluelet.
The ACT Foundation worked in partnership with BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) paramedics and staff and health partners AstraZeneca Canada, Sanofi Canada and Amgen Canada to bring this program to secondary schools in Port Alberni and Ucluelet.
The lead community partner of RBC also made a donation of $15,000.
