An individual has died after being transported to the hospital from a Fourth Avenue home in Port Alberni on March 30.

Port Alberni RCMP along with BC Ambulance Service responded to a report of an individual in medical distress in the 3600 block of Fourth Avenue on Thursday morning. Officers remained at the scene for several hours.

The patient was assessed on scene and transported to hospital where the individual subsequently died. Police say there is nothing suspicious about the death and the investigation has been turned over to the BC Coroner’s Service, who are continuing the investigation into the circumstances of the death.

“The public has nothing to worry about…everyone’s safe in the neighbourhood. Everyone’s okay,” said Brian Hunter, Port Alberni RCMP detachment commander.
