The smell of B.C. bud turned into trouble for a Port Alberni bud after a routine traffic stop.
RCMP pulled over a Dodge Dakota pickup truck while conducting a road check on Highway 4 near Qualicum Beach last Saturday.
An officer detected the odour of marijuana in the truck, and after being questioned the 31-year-old driver from Port Alberni handed over a small bag of pot from inside his shaving kit. Police arrested the man and a subsequent search of the truck revealed three Kitchen Catcher sized bags of fresh B.C. bud weighing a total of 11 kilograms (25 pounds).
Police have recommended charges of possession for the purposes of trafficking against the man, who was released on a promise to appear.
