November 9, 2020
Anna Culina (Sarvas) entered eternal life on Monday, November 9, 2020, joining beloved husband Ante in heaven. Her spirit is carried on by her 4 children, 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Anna over her 88 years, among them: Family is the most important part of life. Best friends are considered family. Always keep your fridge, freezer, and cupboards stocked to the brim in case anyone stops by, and always keep their favourites on hand. Good coffee is especially important. Serve it in the good china. Be a kind and gracious host. There is always enough food and enough space for everyone. Surround yourself with beauty; paint your house your favourite colour, fill it with beautiful items, and fill your garden with beautiful flowers. Roses are the best. Dogs make excellent company, and they deserve a human portion of whatever meat you're having for dinner. Buy Easter and Halloween candy, even when your children are grown, and send it out every year to all of your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Smother these children with love, but call them out when they're being an arambaša. Work hard, and take pride in all you do. Always look good; even a trip to the grocery store means nice clothes, perfume, and some lipstick. Mind your manners. If someone asks an impertinent question, say "never mind". Go to church. Say your prayers. Serve others. Donate your time, your cooking, your baking, and your coffee to your community. Be kind. Love your family.
In her lifetime, Anna filled her house with love, which was felt by anyone who visited. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whose pictures she had hung, propped up, and tucked into every nook and cranny: children Rose (Jeff ), Maria (Ralph), Adrienne (Rob), and Tony (Kathy); grandchildren John (Karen and children Madison and Kacey), Cassandra (daughter Maddison), Gerry (Melissa, and children Mila and Luka), Nikita (Byron, and children Rian, Adria, and Raine), Anthony (Shirley and son Xander), Nicole (son Landen), Sara, Derek (son Grayson), Larissa (George, and children Rowan and Finn), Erin (Darcy), Lucas, and step-grandchildren Randi, Alyssa (daughter Spencer), and Chase (Stephanie).
Family will say their final goodbyes to Anna at Holy Family & Notre Dame Catholic Church on Friday, November 27, 2020. Interment to follow.
Thank you to Dr. White and the medical staff at the West Coast General Hospital for their care and compassion.
