November 15, 1938 - October 18, 2021
In loving memory ~ Quietly at Home - David Lawrence Gray passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 18, 2021. Born on November 15, 1938 in Port Alberni where he happily lived his entire life. Predeceased by his parents Harold and Julia Gray, his older brother Bill, his sister Margarite and his loving wife of 58 years Carol. David is survived by his children Gary (Deborah), Fred (Kelly), David (Kash) and Linda Flory (Glen), his eight grandchildren and 9 great grand-children. He also leaves behind his dear friend and companion Belle Haider, extended family and a host of lifelong friends.
For nearly forty years, David worked for Shell Canada delivery heating oil and keeping equipment moving; he took pride in keeping his customers warm. He was mostly a quiet guy who loved his family and spoke proudly of their accomplishments. He had a special place in his heart for family pets, liked shiny cars and always had a story about "that old car" he should have kept. He enjoyed family holidays and gatherings, a few travelling adventures and weekend camping but was always happiest getting back home.
Thank you to the home care workers and nurses who made his later days a little bit brighter and to the physio department at West Coast General Hospital that kept him going as best he could. Also thanks to Dr. Bernd Muehlenberg and staff.
David will be sadly missed and happily remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be had a later date.
