Dad passed away on the morning of January 18 at Echo Village care home Port Alberni, B.C. following a battle with prostate cancer. He was predeceased by his parents Johannes Alphonsus and Christina (Kamoen), sons Keith and Daryl, sister Rose (Ted) Hall, brother Theo (Hazel).

He leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years Rowena, his sons Ron and Kevin (Holly), Grandchildren Justin, Travis and their mother Elaine, niece and nephews with extended families in Ontario.

He was born in Graauw, Netherlands and came to Canada at the age of 3 and the family settled down in southern Ontario. After WW2 he moved to Port Alberni where he meet his wife and raised his family. After several jobs he settled on working at a sawmill (APD) where he became a benchman.

He enjoyed western music and dancing which lead to his introduction to square dancing, a life long pursuit and enjoyment. He was greatly involved becoming a cuer and hence our summer vacations at Penticton, location of the BC Square Dancing Jamboree.

Dad always volunteered his time and served on numerous committees and clubs.

Dad loved the CFL especially the BC Lions would never miss a game. Also enjoyed floor curling with the Sunshine Club, which he was a member for several decades.

His love of camping took him from family trips to later spending winters in Yuma and summers with the Sunshine Trailer Club.

The family would like to thank the fantastic and compassionate staff at Echo Village.

As per his wishes no service will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edward's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or West Coast General Hospital Foundation.
