In Loving Memory ~

We are sad to announce the passing of Gino on Feb 7th, 2024, at the age of 89. Gino was born on the farm near Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on April 10th, 1934.

Gino was predeceased by his son Kerry, his parents William and Lillian, his brothers Glan, Emy, Bob and sister Fern.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Marie, children Mark, Darren (Laura) and Will (Leanne), grandchildren Jonathan, Austin, Mackenzie, Dawson, Kristina, Marissa and Blake, great grand children James and Emma, sister Elaine, brother Ken, nieces and nephews.

Gino moved from Prince Albert to Port Alberni in 1944. He signed up for the Canadian Armed Forces in 1950 and served in Europe.

Gino was stationed in Germany and Cyprus with the Canadian forces and NATO. He was proud of his service.

During his time between military service, he met and married Marie in 1956. After living in Germany with Marie and first-born son, Kerry, he left the service and returned to Canada.

In 1966, Gino started working for M+B, eventually landing at Canal Sort booming grounds, until retiring in 1994.

Gino's military background made him the family organizer, keeping everyone in line and on time. Gino discovered cruising after retirement and loved it. He was an especially good skier and enjoyed ski vacations with the family. He never lost his love for travel or watching a good army or western movie.

He enjoyed all types of family gatherings, always first to arrive, never wanting to miss anything. Gino was a quiet man, he enjoyed listening to the conversations of others. He enjoyed playing chauffeur for his grandkids during his retirement.

He was a wonderful and loved family man... We will love him and miss him forever...A private ceremony, at Gino's request, took place on February 15th at the Greenwood Cemetery.
