January 14, 1956 - May 21, 2024

In loving memory ~

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Gary Christie on May 21, 2024.

Born to Elma and Duncan Christie, January 14, 1956, in Port Alberni, Gary spent years in the Port Alberni Salvation Army Brass Band, playing both the trombone and guitar. Gary attended UBC where he obtained his degree in Mechanical Engineering and met the love of his life, Stephanie Hough, whom he married in 1985. Gary had an extensive career, starting at the local pulp mill out of high school, then returning as a summer student while working on his engineering degree. He began his lifelong career in Saskatoon, before moving to Richmond to raise his family. He travelled the world working in, and then eventually designing and overseeing the construction of mines and large industrial projects. A caring, civic minded individual Gary was a member of the Kinsmen Club, a Youth Group mentor at St. Alban's and helped friends and family. With Stephanie they bred and showed Kerry Blue terriers. Gary retired to spend more time with his cherished grandsons, while studying both Spanish and Gaelic.

Gary was predeceased by his parents, and brothers, James and Rocky. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Stephanie, children Jennifer and husband Matthew, Andrew, Claire and grandchildren Finnley and Lennon along with his siblings, Joy and husband Paul, Mark and wife Cathy, Lavina and husband Carmen, Paula, and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed, but lovingly remembered by many.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 15 at 1:30pm, at St. Alban's Anglican Church in Richmond. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation, in Gary's name, to a charity of your choice.
