It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend on Monday, Feb 8, 2021 in Port Alberni, BC at the age of 58.
Predeceased by mother Fern Moore; Uncles Glan, Emy, Bob Moore and Philip Beall; aunt Shirley Nall and 1st cousins Kerry Moore and Diane Kerns.
Gary is survived by father Sandy Stewart, sister Cathy (Don) Ferster, special niece Ashley Ferster (Taylor Heck); step father Tara Burns; Uncle Gino (Marie) Moore, special aunts Elaine (Ernie) Burnett and Bernice (Bunny) Kerns; aunts Cathy Beall and Betty Lou Aarsen; 1st cousins Jim Moore, Barbara Hubbard, Heather Moore, Mark Moore, Darren (Laura) Moore, William (Leanne) Moore, Rand (Terry) Moore, Darla (Linden) Martin, Dayna (Dave) Osborne, Glen Turgeon (Louise), Gary (Val) Kearns, Keith Kerns, Ricky Kerns, Philip (Becky) Beall, Chrissy Lutz, Carol Meyer and Sandy Beall; as well as many 2nd , 3rd and 4th cousins.
Gary also had a brother like friend Al Mark and sister like friend Anita Haase.
Gary was born and raised in Port Alberni and graduated from ADSS in 1981. During his early teens he won the Vancouver Island Chess Championship. He worked for the Alberni Golf Course from 1985 until 1990 as a groundskeeper and loved the game of Golf.
Gary then worked for a Courier Company in San Francisco from 1990 until 1995 and then drove taxi in Las Vegas from 1997 until 2017 when he moved back to Canada to retire.
No public gathering will be held at this time.
