In loving memory ~

Ian Wallace, born to Johnny and Kay in Port Alberni, grew up on the west coast of Vancouver Island in the quaint community of Bamfield. Always an adventurer, he spent most of his time on or near the water, and acquired many lifelong friends. Ian was known for his generous helping hands and witty jokes.

He joined the Coast Guard in the mid 70s, and worked in Bamfield for many years, eventually relocating to Qualicum Beach in the 80s with his first wife Deborah. It was there that they raised their two boys Cameron and Matthew. Qualicum Beach was home to Ian for over 30 years. The Wallace family thoroughly loves the community, and Qualicum was an amazing place to raise a family.

After retiring from the Coast Guard at French Creek Marina in 2010, he fittingly found himself returning to Bamfield, the town where he had spent his early years. It was there that he spent his time enjoying the Broken Group with his loving partner Susan, and truffle dog Lucca.

On April 25, Ian sadly lost his fight with cancer (and boy did he fight), with his two sons Cameron (Stephanie), Matthew (Paula) and Susan by his side. He is survived by his brother Rick (Linda). He will be deeply missed by all that had the absolute privilege to know him.

There will be a celebration of life held at the Qualicum Beach Rotary park on Ian's birthday, July 10th between 3:00pm and 7:00pm. For those who wish, please bring a photo (or a copy) of Ian to share.
