Irene Sager passed away peacefully at Fir Park Village on January 17, 2017, at the age of 93.
Predeceased by loving husband of 56 years, Austin, and grandson John; Irene is survived by her daughters Darice, Kathleen, Kim and Norma; grandsons Jeff, Greg and Brent; granddaughter Jennifer; and great-grandsons Zachary and Matthew.
Born in Limerick, Saskatchewan, Irene was raised in Peace River District, Alberta. She served as a corporal in the Women’s Air Division of the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942-1946. Irene retired to the Alberni Valley in 1980 to be with her family. She was an avid gardener and a devout member of the Arrowsmith Baptist Church. She was a caring individual and loved being with her family. It was Irene who was responsible for starting the family teas at Fir Park Village when her mother was a resident.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Arrowsmith Baptist Church, 4283 Glenside Road, Port Alberni, BC, with Pastor Leland Botzet officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Irene’s memory to the Fir Park/Echo Village Foundation, 4411 Wallace Street, Port Alberni, BC V9Y 7Y5.
