In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness and much love that the family of Isabella McCurdy announce her passing June 10/22 just 3 weeks before her 101st birthday.
Isabella was born to Fred and Mary Allum on July 4/1921 in Whonnock BC. She had 4 brothers and 2 sisters that all grew up in the Fraser Valley and attended school in Maple Ridge.
In 1940, under the Birks clock in Vancouver, Isabella met James McCurdy on a blind date. They were married in 1941 in Whonnock where her parents still lived, then off to Derroche where the first 2 boys Gerry and Robert (Bob) were born.
They moved to the Island, building their first home in Royston and having 2 more boys, Dennis and Kevin.
In 1958 they came to Port Alberni where they built their 2nd home then off to Parksville for a few years and back to Port Alberni to be closer to family.
Up to her 98th year Isabella could be found at Echo Pool bright and early, swimming with the many that knew and loved her and she loved them.
If she wasn't in her kitchen baking pies, making jam or her famous chocolate chip cookies you would find her out in her garden or chopping wood.
She always said that you had to have a reason to get up every day!
Isabella was a hard working fun loving woman that loved her grand and great grand children more than anything and the time spent and love felt for her was immeasurable. The stories they could tell would fill a book.
She will be so missed by all that knew her.
