We are deeply saddened to announce that our mother Joan Kareen Eichenlaub

(nee Maczulat) passed away peacefully on Saturday January 28, 2017. Born March 26, 1947 and

raised in Port Alberni, Joan was an animal lover and nature enthusiast with

a deep passion for music and her family. She was a teacher in the Cowichan

Valley including many years at Stanley Gordon Elementary in Lake Cowichan.

Predeceased by her parents Arthur and Mable and brother Harold, Joan is

survived by brother Ted (Chris) and family, daughters Naomi (Sandro) and

Natasha (Chris), sons Nathan (Tiann) and Bruce and grandchildren Fynn (Zinnena),

Nakulah, Milo, Calum, Alistair, Joshua, Sean, Naomi and Hailey and her

beloved dachshunds Heidi and Frankie. Thank you to Drs. Patricia Seymour,

John Antonsen and Daisy Dulay as well as the staff at the Cowichan District

Hospital and the Victoria Royal Jubilee Kidney Transplant team. A service

will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 394 Sheperd Ave. in Nanaimo,

BC on Saturday, February 4 at 1PM. Donations can be made to the BC

Endocrine Research Foundation.
